So sometime last week, I saw an interesting post from Glo on Facebook. It was about a newly launched online appointment manager app for NIN registration.
I was very happy about the news. So I decided to try it out myself since I have not been able to register for my NIN due to a large crowd at the various NIN offices in the country.
The online appointment app created by Glo was supposed to assist customers to book a day, time, and location most convenient for them to do their NIN registration.
After reading about it, I quickly visited the Glo Appointment manager website and registered with my Glo phone number. I picked a date ( 7th of April 2021), which is today, a location, and shop location from the list of available Glo outlet on the website.
After completing my online registration, I got a text message from Glo that reads
ID: PY… Dear customer, NIN capture Schedule Date:07/04/2021, Time: 9:00 AM – 9:15 AM at ABA ROAD.
I was to register on the 7th of April between w 9:00 am – 9:15 am at Aba Road, Port Harcourt. The message I received even included an ID number which I presume will be used as a form of identity to prove I had an appointment on the said date. I made a blog post about the registration process here.
As you can see, the text message I got from Glo did not clearly state the address I was supposed to do my registration. It just simply said at Aba road.
So I had to contact a Glo customer care representative that gave me the address as 163 Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
After getting the address, I had to make out the time on my schedule for the registration. All of these happened on the 31st of March 2021.
Fast forward to the appointment date which is today (7th of April 2021). I woke up very early so I could meet up with the time. With the help of a Google map, I was able to get directions to the location. And by 8:55am I was already at the Glo office.
When I got there, I noticed that some people were standing outside the building while others were sitting inside, so I had to inquire from one of the security guards about what was going on.
He asked what I was there for, after letting him know I had a nin registration appointment fixed for today. He then said they had already taken people in for the registration and that I was late.
I thought this must be another batch of people that had an appointment time much earlier than mine. So I told him that I wasn’t late and my appointment was supposed to be between 9:00 am – 9:15 am. I even tried to show him the text message I got from Glo which he wasn’t interested in seeing.
He made it clear to me that they don’t use the schedule on the online appointment manager app. Anyone can just come in and do their registration irrespective of their appointment date he said. Whether they use the appointment app or not.
As far as they come early enough. If they had not booked an appointment online then they would be able to do so at the outlet.
When I asked what time was early enough, he then said I should come on any date but it had to be before 7 am.
I tried to speak to someone at the Glo office but the security would not even let me in.
So there go the so-called Online Glo Appointments manager App guys, designed to assist customers to schedule a convenient nin appointment date, location, and time.
